Double Your Local Impact: VCSEs and the £500m Better Futures Fund

An invitation to scale your delivery with zero upfront capital.

The UK Government has launched the Better Futures Fund (BFF), a landmark £500 million fund designed to tackle child and family poverty over the next 10 years, via outcomes-based funding. It aims to:

  • Improve outcomes related to child poverty by supporting approaches aligned with the Government’s Child Poverty Strategy.
  • Support preventative approaches to local service delivery by enabling organisations to work together around local needs and long-term outcomes.

If your organisation delivers life-changing programmes for children, young people and families, this fund is designed to help you scale. It offers a route to secure larger, longer-term funding for proven local services, without requiring you to raise the upfront capital. No prior experience of outcomes-based funding is required.

This introductory webinar is for VCSE teams who are new to outcomes-based funding and looking to amplify the impact of their local children, youth and family support programmes. We’ll cover:

  • What outcomes-based funding means
  • How this model can scale and strengthen local services
  • Engaging with the Better Futures Fund opportunity
  • How we partner with local delivery organisations

An outcomes-based funding opportunity

Many charities and other VCSE organisations struggle to secure the long-term funding needed to grow successful services, for reasons ranging from perceived delivery risk to fundraising barriers and inflexible conditions.

Outcomes-based funding is where commissioner payments are unlocked when meaningful, measurable improvements in people’s lives are achieved — flipping the traditional, rigid approach to commissioning on its head.

The Better Futures Fund will match 50% of local outcomes contracts, effectively doubling the local budget available to pay for your services.

How we partner with you

Bridges Outcomes Partnerships is the UK’s leading social outcomes delivery organisation. We accompany VCSEs throughout their journey to delivering outcomes: providing the upfront capital, liaising with commissioners, shaping the contract together, and working side by side from initial programme design to roll-out and successful local delivery.

Among other enablers, partnering with us means:

  • 100% upfront capital. Bridges Outcomes Partnerships pools and provides upfront working capital so your team can deliver services from day one.
  • No financial risk to you. Our social investors hold the risk, giving you the freedom and flexibility to focus on doing what you do best: delivering outcomes.

Is this a fit for your organisation?

We are looking to form collaborative partnerships with ambitious senior fundraisers and charity leaders who want to take up this opportunity. Ask yourself:

  • Are you running a successful local programme addressing child poverty, school attendance, youth employment, early years support, youth mental health, family wellbeing or similar?
  • Do you have evidence that your programme is improving outcomes for children, young people and families?
  • Do you have a strong relationship with a local authority commissioner, Integrated Care System or major local philanthropist?
  • Would you like to turn a standard contract or grant into a long-term, match-funded, multi-year partnership?

How to connect

This session is designed for organisations that are new to outcomes-based funding and looking to scale delivery of their children, youth and family support programmes. Register below for a clear introduction to what the Better Futures Fund means for you.
