GMBOP recognised for ‘innovative and impactful contribution’ to preventing homelessness

We’re delighted to share that Greater Manchester Better Outcomes Partnership (GMBOP)’s Pathfinder Project has been awarded the ‘Demonstrating Impact Award’ at Homeless Link’s Excellence Awards 2024!

GMBOP, our Greater Manchester-based homelessness prevention programme, provides tailored, strengths-based, early support to young people at risk of homelessness before they reach a crisis point. It helps participants to secure alternative accommodation, or stabilise the current accommodation, before addressing other needs, including mental health and resilience, financial stability, and education/employment/social activity.

Homeless Link’s ‘Demonstrating Impact Award’ recognises the effectiveness of organisations in supporting people facing homelessness, and their ability to learn from what works.

Using a data-driven approach to track and analyse participants’ journeys, GMBOP’s Pathfinder project has rolled out innovative solutions to tackle homelessness, including a private landlord engagement scheme and additional support for single-parent families. This initiative has achieved a 70% success rate in preventing homelessness, positively impacting over 1,500 young people in Manchester.

GMBOP is one of five services, out of 149 entries and a ‘highly competitive shortlist of 30’, to have been honoured for their ‘innovative and impactful contributions to supporting people experiencing homelessness’.

Congratulations to fellow winners Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council, Hope into Action, Nadiya, and StreetVet!

Rachel O’Connor, Programme Director, GMBOP:

“Receiving the award is a true honour for the GMBOP Pathfinder project. This recognition is a wonderful testament to our whole team’s dedication and hard work in creating meaningful change for those at risk of homelessness. It also highlights the critical role that data plays in driving our innovative solutions, enabling us to better understand and address the needs of participants. Thank you, Homeless Link, for believing in our vision and supporting our mission.”
